Sand dunes

Distance from Indaba Apartments: approximately 20 km.

The Sand Dunes of Lemnos, also known as "Pachies Ammoudies", are one of the most impressive and unexpected natural landscapes in Greece. In the north of the island, near the village of Katalakkos and Gomati beach, a scene reminiscent of a small Sahara spreads out: golden sand dunes that constantly change shape due to the force of the wind.

The dunes cover an area of approximately 70 acres and were created through a natural process over thousands of years. Strong northeasterly winds transport and deposit sand, forming hills that rise in an otherwise insular landscape. The result is unique and is considered one of the most special geological phenomena in the Aegean.
